Current Opportunities

Hiring Interior Architect/Designer

Part-time to start, with the intention to grow to full-time within the next few months

Sydney-based (Dover Heights) – in-person role only

Patina Design Studio is seeking a detail-focused, technically capable Interior Architect or Interior Designer to support and execute work across our boutique high-end residential projects. We're looking for someone with a strong grasp of documentation, detailing, procurement, and spatial design – and a deep respect for the precision required to bring a creative concept to life.

This role is ideal for someone who can take a clearly defined vision and see it through to polished, buildable outcomes. You’ll work closely with the studio director and our small internal team, contributing to all stages of the design process and liaising with clients, architects, suppliers, and trades. While the role starts with support and execution, there is room for growth over time into greater creative responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend client consultations and meetings – take detailed notes, capture site photos, and assist in drafting proposals

  • Manage and organise samples

  • Source and specify products in alignment with the brief, context, and usage

  • Assist with FF&E procurement – specifying, customising, and quality control

  • Prepare full documentation sets, including joinery, lighting, bathroom, finishes and materials

  • Coordinate drawings across consultants and suppliers to ensure accuracy

  • Catch errors or inconsistencies early – and help solve them before they escalate

  • Assist with project installations and photoshoots

  • Use our systems (ClickUp) to track progress, manage tasks, and collaborate with the team

  • Prioritise workload and support smooth project delivery

  • Anticipate client needs, manage expectations, and ensure an elevated level of service

  • Maintain discretion and handle confidential information appropriately

You will

  • Work from a clearly defined creative concept and carry it through to execution

  • Prepare clear, accurate, and well-organised documentation for both trades and clients

  • Create polished presentation documents in InDesign, Photoshop, and Procreate

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors with professionalism and warmth

  • Track and manage documentation sets, schedules, design details, samples, and delivery timelines

  • Work within our established processes while showing initiative and care

You must have:

  • A Bachelor of Interior Architecture or Interior Design

  • Minimum 4 years post-graduate experience in high-end design (residential preferred)

  • The right to live and work in Australia long term

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent), InDesign, SketchUp, Photoshop, Procreate, Word, and Excel

  • Excellent documentation and detailing skills across all key drawing packages

  • Demonstrated understanding of materials, finishes, and how things are built

  • A clear and personable communication style and confidence in client-facing situations

  • Outstanding organisation and time management

  • A willingness to follow and refine established creative direction

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with ClickUp or other project management tools

  • Experience preparing DA/CC/CDC documentation

  • Experience working on overseas high-end residential projects

  • An intuitive ability to understand what clients mean – even when they struggle to articulate it
